NNormal Tomir 02 Review: Features, Specs and Verdict
The NNormal Tomir 02 is the second version of the most versatile trail shoe from NNormal, the brand founded by Kilian Jornet and Camper. It keeps the Vibram outsole with 5 mm lugs, adds a new supercritical foam (EExpure) and weighs 264 g with an 8 mm drop. It is a shoe for training and racing on almost any trail.
This review is based on official data from NNormal, not on our own testing. No lab review of this version has been published yet, so the review carries no score.
What is new in the NNormal Tomir 02
NNormal says the Tomir 02 was shaped by feedback from runners who used the first one. The changes come in three places: a new foam that is lighter and more cushioned; a revised rocker and midsole geometry for a smoother ride; and tougher upper materials, with nylon stitching that joins the upper to the midsole and non-slip laces.

Midsole and ride
The EExpure foam sits directly under the foot, without a thick insole in between, which NNormal says improves propulsion and reduces rubbing. With 33 mm at the heel, the Tomir 02 has a mid-height stack for trail: protective on long runs without becoming a max-cushion shoe.
Upper and fit
The upper blends TPE, polyester and nylon monofilament to resist abrasion and snags, and it is stitched to the midsole to last longer. The lacing is asymmetric to spread pressure across the instep. To get the size right, follow our running shoe size guide.

Outsole and grip
The outsole is Vibram Megagrip, a compound designed to grip in the wet too, with Litebase technology (thinner, lighter rubber) and 5 mm Traction Lug lugs. It is built for mud, rock and loose dirt. On hardpack the 5 mm lugs feel less intrusive than on more aggressive shoes, but they are still deep for road running.

Who is the NNormal Tomir 02 for?
Trail runners looking for one shoe to train and race in the mountains, from short races to marathon distance and beyond. The 8 mm drop makes it comfortable for runners coming from road shoes.
Who it is not for: if you want maximum cushioning for very long ultras, there are taller models.
Pros and cons
Pros:

Alternatives
Compare it with other shoes reviewed on KnowPace: the HOKA Speedgoat 7, taller and more cushioned, or the Saucony Peregrine 16, more flexible and cheaper. You can put them side by side in the shoe comparison tool or browse them all in the shoes section.
Final verdict
The Tomir 02 is an all-round trail shoe with a top outsole, a comfortable drop and a build meant to last. Its weak point is that there is no lab data yet to confirm what the brand promises. Before you decide, our guide on how to choose trail running shoes can help. Choose well, run better.
