Saucony Guide 19 Review: Features, Specs and Verdict
The Saucony Guide 19 is Saucony’s stability shoe for daily training. It uses the CenterPath system, with sidewalls that guide the foot, a PWRRUN foam softer than in the Guide 18 and a 6 mm drop, low for a shoe of this type. BIKILA sells it from €135.95, and some colors from last season go down to €99.95.
This review brings together the official data from saucony.com and the lab measurements from RunRepeat. We have not tested it. The score on this page, 8.4 out of 10, is RunRepeat’s.
What is new in the Saucony Guide 19
Saucony lists a softer PWRRUN blend, more forefoot flexibility and more durability. RunRepeat confirms the softer foam (30.5 on its scale, against an average of 35.4) and much better shock absorption than the Guide 18: 144 at the heel, up from 124 in the previous version. The price stays the same.

Midsole and ride
The platform is very wide and is the base of its stability. RunRepeat describes it as a secure, modern daily trainer, with a well designed rocker that smooths the transition, and surprisingly flexible for a stability shoe. Its criticism is that the ride lacks excitement and that PWRRUN is starting to feel dated next to other foams.
With a 6 mm drop, RunRepeat sees it as ideal for midfoot strikers and less suited to heavy heel strikers.

Saucony Guide 19 upper and fit
It fits true to size according to the owners who voted on RunRepeat. The upper has large ventilation openings in the toe box and the lab ranks it among the most breathable. Lockdown is secure. Saucony also sells a wide version, and BIKILA stocks it.
Outsole and durability
RunRepeat gave it 5 out of 5 for toe box wear and calls the outsole durability excellent. The weak spot was heel padding, at 2 out of 5.

Who is the Saucony Guide 19 for?
Runners who need support in their daily shoe and want durability, and anyone coming from an older Guide who wants a softer feel underfoot. Because of its 6 mm drop, it suits a midfoot landing better. If you want a more agile stability shoe, RunRepeat suggests the HOKA Arahi 8 or the ASICS GT-2000 14.
Pros and cons
Pros: very good breathability, a wide platform with a lot of stability, flexibility, a durable outsole, a more comfortable foam than before and the same price.
Cons: 298 grams in the lab, not a good match for heavy heel strikers and a foam that is no longer among the most modern.

Saucony Guide 19 alternatives
For a higher drop, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 25 (10 mm). For less weight, the ASICS GT-2000 15. All five are compared in our guide to running shoes for overpronation.
