adidas Adios Pro Evo 3 Review: Features, Specs and Verdict
The adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 is the shoe Sabastian Sawe wore to run the first official sub-two-hour marathon, in London in 2026. Adidas calls it its first super shoe under 100 grams. It costs €500, adidas applies no discounts to it, and BIKILA already has sizes in stock, while adidas.es lists it for 1 December.
This review combines adidas’s official data with lab testing by RunRepeat. It is not our own test, and the rating on this page, 9.1 out of 10, is RunRepeat’s score.
What the adidas Adios Pro Evo 3 is
It is the most extreme shoe in the Adizero family. It uses Lightstrike Pro Evo foam, the carbon EnergyRim instead of a full plate, and Continental rubber only under the forefoot. Adidas describes it as the fastest and lightest Adizero it has made. Its more affordable sibling, the adidas Adizero Adios Pro 5, uses the same technologies according to adidas and costs €259.95.
adidas Adios Pro Evo 3 specs
| Spec | Official | Lab measured (RunRepeat) |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | under 100 g | 99 g |
| Heel stack | 39.5 mm | 38.1 mm |
| Forefoot stack | 36.5 mm | 32.2 mm |
| Drop | 3 mm | 5.9 mm |
| Foam | Lightstrike Pro Evo | – |
| Stiffening | carbon EnergyRim | 15.6 N |
| Outsole | Continental rubber under the forefoot | 1.0 mm rubber at the heel |
| Price | €500 | €500 at BIKILA (October 2026) |
The measured drop is almost double the official one: 5.9 mm vs 3. With a 39.5 mm heel according to adidas, the Evo 3 meets the 40 mm World Athletics limit for road racing.

Midsole and ride
Energy return and cushioning
In RunRepeat’s lab, the Evo 3 returned 83.0% of energy in its rebound test and scored 184 in shock absorption, both high results. The foam is soft: 21.0 on their durometer, where lower means softer. RunRepeat admits it doubted such a light shoe could protect the legs over a marathon, and the measurements settled that doubt.
EnergyRim stiffness
The carbon rim gives 15.6 N of bending stiffness, on par with a full plate. Torsionally it is flexible (8.3 Nm), because the EnergyRim does not wrap the whole shoe. There is also no heel counter, so the heel adds no support.

Upper, fit and sizing
The upper is extremely thin. RunRepeat compares the toebox to a track spike: 65.9 mm wide with a pointed shape, so it is very narrow. It fits true to size, but if you have wide feet, try it first. The tongue has almost no padding (1.8 mm). Adidas improved breathability, one of the Evo 2’s weak points.
adidas Adios Pro Evo 3 outsole and durability
This is its biggest problem. The heel rubber is 1.0 mm thick and very soft, and RunRepeat’s Dremel went straight through it in the abrasion test. The toebox scored 1 out of 5 for durability and the heel padding 3. RunRepeat does not expect the upper to last long, which matters at €500. adidas Adios Pro Evo 3 vs Adios Pro 5 and Nike Alphafly 4
| Adios Pro 5 | Adios Pro Evo 3 | Nike Alphafly 4 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Measured weight | 176 g (RunRepeat) | 99 g (RunRepeat) | 187.1 g (RTINGS) |
| Official drop | 4 mm | 3 mm | 8 mm |
| Carbon | EnergyRim | EnergyRim | Flyplate |
| BIKILA price (October 2026) | €259.95 | €500 | €279.85 |
The Adios Pro 5 weighs 77 grams more and costs about half as much. The Nike Alphafly 4 weighs almost twice as much and takes a different approach: more foam, a wide forefoot and Air Zoom pods.
Who is the adidas Adios Pro Evo 3 for?
According to RunRepeat, runners who want the newest technology whatever the price, fans of barely-there ultralight racers, and marathoners who do not heel strike and enjoy a big forefoot rocker.
It does not suit heel strikers, wide feet or anyone who wants a shoe that lasts many kilometres. For daily runs or intervals, a training shoe is far better value; training vs racing shoes explains how to choose.
Pros and cons
For: 99 grams measured, high energy return and cushioning for its weight, plate-like stiffness from the EnergyRim and the credential of the first sub-two-hour marathon.
Against: €500 with no discounts, very low outsole and toebox durability, a narrow pointed toebox, no heel counter and a real drop almost twice the stated one.

Alternatives to the Evo 3
The direct alternative is the Adios Pro 5, with the same idea for €259.95. If you prefer Nike, the Alphafly 4 is €279.85 at BIKILA and the Nike Vaporfly 4 starts at €159.95. The previous generation, the adidas Adizero Adios Pro 4, was €174.95 with few sizes left. Compare them in the shoe comparison tool.
Final verdict
The Evo 3 weighs 99 grams and still gets high cushioning and energy return scores in the lab. Price and durability limit it to very few races a year. For an amateur runner, the Adios Pro 5 offers the same technology for half the price.
